THE BUZZ BEATER – SAT. JAN.16TH

…J-Love Hewitt & Cowell Replacements

     THE HOT BOX

– Super star actress Jennifer Love Hewitt caused quite a stir earlier this week when she was on the George Lopez show. She had mentioned that she likes to vajazzle her va-jay-jay. Basically, she likes to add glitter and expensive crystals to her private area. She first did it after a break up, and decorates her kitty everytime she goes out. She even had it sparkling for Lopez’s show.

– Now the buzz beater. Upon hearing this news, it seems private posers Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears are ready to go commando again…and ready for the paparazzi to be there. Lindsay quote “Everyone has seen my cactus flower already, so, why not just have it all dolled up next time. It would almost be like I wasn’t naked at all. Pssst…anyone know where the closest pharmacy is?”

– More buzz beater. Even those not in the habit of baring all are ready to come on board with this new sensation. Meryl Streep said “I would love to play Jennifer Love Hewitt in a movie playing me, where I can expose my transformed cha cha for everyone to see. I am sure it would even garner me and my yum yum another Oscar nom”. Oprah came on board too “C’mon…you know I can make this look good”!

– Finally, expect a whole new series of books on this topic from Love Hewitt…tentatively titled “The Clam Whisperer” OR “Living Up My Box” OR “Makin Up Your Lady Business” OR “Bees In My Honey Pot” OR

     THE FAST FORWARD

THINGS WE SHOULD KNOW BUT PROBABLY DON’T

1.. Money isn’t made out of paper, it’s made out of cotton.2.. The Declaration of Independence was written on hemp (marijuana) paper.

3. The dot over the letter i is called a ‘tittle’.

4. A raisin dropped in a glass of fresh champagne will bounce up and down

continuously from the bottom of the glass to the top. (that makes my day!)

5. Susan Lucci is the daughter of Phyllis Diller.

6.. 40% of Mc Donald ‘s profits come from the sales of Happy Meals.

7. 315 entries in Webster’s 1996 Dictionary were misspelled.

8. The ‘spot’ on 7UP comes from its inventor, who had red eyes. He was

albino.

9. On average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents, daily.  (Just

as I suspected))

10. Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine are brother and sister.

Sunday –

HUMAN TARGET – New series on FOX with Mark Valley from Boston Legal as the lead. FOX has a habit of bringing back former leads of their failed previous series. This will be the 2nd attempt at a hit for Valley. They have used this formula for stars like Jason Priestley (1 for 3), and Eliza Dushko (1 for 3 as well). Rob Lowe has also fallen into this lot as the big 3 networks have all tried using him as a lead (2 for 4…the hits being “West Wing” and “Brothers and Sisters”). This show looks pretty light, but, could be a good lead-in for 24 which will debut right afterwards. I will check it out, and letcha know, but, I don’t expect anything along the lines of a “Prison Break” breakout.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES – Something mysterious will happen on Wisteria Lane. That’s all I can say, because it is a mystery. (Use this tag-line every Sunday for this show).

CHICK ALERT>>>CHICK ALERT. The Golden Globe Awards are on Sunday night. Easily the best award show of the bunch, as it mixes the best in movies and tv. Plus, there is no real format to the show, and all of the stars are encouraged to get blitzed, which usually means some entertaining acceptance speeches. It is a far cry from the “I couldn’t have done this without the support of Lord and Saviour, my family, cast-mates and all those who were with me as I gave it 110%, for each and every shift”. Ok…that is obviously a combo acceptance speech, but, should be an alright show. Plus, all the ladies can see what everyone is wearing. (I hope there is some witty fashion commentary from Ben Mulroney on a Canadian channel. No one does the red carpet with the questions that matter regarding fashion like handsome Ben).

HOCKEY PICKS – Tonight, double header on Hockey Night In Canada. The 2nd game should be dandy with Sid and the Pens wrapping up their West Coast swing in Vancouver. I wonder what kind of headlines the Canucks can make tonight. Tomorrow, NBC is back with their Sunday assortment of games. Some good matchups, but, none better than the match of wits between Pierre Maguire and Mike Milbury. They are often seen head to head, either readying for a rumble similiar to “Ali & Foreman”, or an embrace like “Heath and Jake”. It is hard to watch, yet, you can’t turn away.

    THE BIG LEBOWSKI LIST

– Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol at the end of this season. Here is a look at his top 10 replacements:

10. Paula Adbul

9. David Foster

8. Kid Rock

7. Borat

6. Conan O’Brien

5. Bruce Allen

4. Piers Morgan

3. Courtney Love

2. Howard Stern

1. Kanye West

– Everyone loves Kanye, and his comeback would be the feel good story of the year. He is an artist who is humble, and of substance. A no brainer.

…That is the third edition of the Buzz Beater. Vajazzling, isn’t it?

THE BUZZ BEATER – WED. JAN.13TH

…no, really, it is a name that suggests so much!

     THE HOT BOX

– So, Canuck forward Alex Burrows got into a bit of trouble recently. He spoke his mind to the media about some bad ref’ing, and it cost him some dough. I think $2,500 was the setback, which would be like discarding $50 for us. In other words, a night out on the town. If you ask the Edmonton Oilers about that, they say dinner costs more, especially in Calgary, but, that’s another story!

– Now the buzz beater. We all know that if you say stuff about refs in pro sports, that is gonna ’cause some grief. That’s the way it goes. But in this case,  Burrows and the Canucks have a case, one that the NHL is going to look into. To be quite honest, to get everyone to stop talking about it, they have to look into it. The calls were awful, and this isn’t the first time that this ref in question (Auger) has had issues with players. He accused one of the class acts of the NHL of a racial slur (Shane Doan of them Coyotes), and has apparently told Burrows that he was going to make him pay for diving. This has to be looked into.

– More buzz beater. Alain Vigneault, head coach of the Nucks, has stated that players berating the refs in post game scrums will not be tolerated. It is an issue for the team to bring up with the NHL, and not the media. He did mention however that if players can muster up back to back hat-tricks, then they would be void of any punishment. I guess Burrow (no s on the end…that’s how Vigneault says it) is lucky…this time…

     TUBE TALK

Tonight –

– AMERICAN IDOL. The premiere was last night with auditions from Boston. Same ole schtick for Idol, with a run-down of the really bad singers…the ones who you aren’t sure if they are all there or not. Then there were the good ones, and their stories of parents with disorders, or beating cancer, or walking through lava, and how they were able to overcome all of that it and get to the audition…and then get the ‘gold’ ticket for Hollywood. Heartwarming stuff, but, not as heartwarming as the comments from Posh Spice. She managed to fill the vacant role of Paula to a tee, with her comments about…”you look good though”…”I really like your outfit” and on and on. She still looks pretty good though…if you get beyond all of her makeup. I hope Beckham will bend it better next time…and yes…apparently they will be a next time. Let’s hope Canadian stars Shania and Avril have a bit more to say. Tonight, it’s 90 minutes of auditions in Atlanta.

– COUGAR TOWN. I actually like this little sitcom with Courtney Cox Arquette. She still looks good…for a cougar anyway, and is going to be back for another season after ABC made that announcement earlier this week. Not sure if Phoebe is back on tonight, but, I am looking forward to May sweeps when a new love interest will enter, a Canadian guy named Matthew Perry. I think there could be some chemistry there.

CHICK ALERT>>>CHICK ALERT. That Grey’s Anatomy wannabe Mercy is back tonight. Look for Dawson of Dawson Creek to join the cast soon, playing a smug doctor who will drill a nurse or two. It could be any of the nurses, as long as it isn’t the one played by Michelle Trachtenberg. Please leave her be.  That has been your CHICK ALERT>>>CHICK ALERT

HOCKEY PICK – You got just a few minutes before the Nucks are on the ice in Minny to take on the Wild. 4pm start on Sportsnet…and then head over to TSN for the Sidney Crosby Wild West Show. Sid and the Pens are in Calgary for a 6:30 faceoff.

   THE BIG LEBOWSKI LIST

– 2 days ago I e-chatted about superheroes, and listed the top ten. Well, number 5 on that list…and number 5 in your hearts is no more. That’s right, it was announced that Spiderman is no more, well at least with Tobey Maguire. Creative differences means that a new Spidey is on the way. It will be a prelude to the ones we know. It will be high school Spidey. So, here is a list of the top 10 candidates to play a young Peter Parker. Actually, forget that, how about a top 10 list of the potential Mary Janes!

 10. Kristen Stewart

9. Ashley Benson

8. Rachel Bilson

7. Brittany Snow

6. Megan Fox

5. Blake Lively

4. Ashley Tisdale

3. Laura Vandervoot

2. Maggie Grace

1. Hayden Panettiere

…She has some experience in the super-hero genre…That does edition two of the Buzz Beater. Riveting, huh?

THE BUZZ BEATER – MON. JAN.11TH

…What a freakin’ cool name, huh? Kidding…just kidding.

     THE HOT BOX

– Ok, Leno is moving to 11:30 come mid February. NBC’s prime time experiment has failed. That means that his new 30 minute show will bump Conan to midnight…and Fallon to 1am. That’s what we kinda know already.

– Now the buzz beater. It looks like FOX is very close to wooing Conan away from NBC to give him his own show at 11. (Fox doesn’t do news at 11, so, Conan would get the head start). That would mean Fallon would drop down to midnight on NBC, and a new show with David Hasselhoff would come up at 1. Hasselhoff has just left “America’s Got Talent” because he wants to start his own show. Voila! “Take Hoff For The Night” is the tentative title.

– More buzz beater. It was announced earlier today that this season will be the last for Simon Cowell on “American Idol”. He is also slated to get his own show, but, it will still be on FOX. “Cat Cowells” would follow up Conan, and would be kind of an odd format. It would mark the return to late night TV for former FOX star Arsenio Hall, who would be back in the form of Cowell’s hand-slapping, fist pumping, whoot whooting sidekick. It would also feature Paula Abdul leading a dance troupe every night to start the show, as opposed to the traditional bands that kick off most late night gabfests now.

– This is a story that is certainly going to be providing with us more details in the next few weeks, and I will be here to bust it down for you! Poor Johnny must be dizzy!

     THE FAST FORWARD:

…yeah, it is brilliant, isn’t it?

     HIGH FIVERS

– Box Office top 5:

5. It’s Complicated

4. Daybreakers

3. Alvin & The Chimpmunks: The Squeakquel

2. Sherlock Holmes

1. Avatar (4th record setting weekend at number one)

     TUBE TALK

TONIGHT –

– CHUCK. Did you see the 2 hour premiere last night? If you like light hearted TV, then check Chuck. This season the Seth Cohen clone has super-spy powers, and that means he can actually fight his own battles, but, will do so in an Inspector Clouseau fashion, which means tons of laughs for the viewers. His hot Sister is back, and her hubby Awesome, as well as Morgan, and Chuck’s partner Sarah. The on again, off again struggles will continue, at least I have been told.

– HEROES. Remember when the show first debuted…and the first storyline involved Sylar going after Claire? You know…the hushed “save the cheerleader, save the world”  campaign. Well, Sylar and Claire are going to be reunited, but, will he be there to merely slit open her forehead, or will he be there to woo her into the mysterious world of the carnival, or, will he just want to get some cheerleader tail? Find out tonight my friends, find out tonight!

***CHICK ALERT>>>CHICK ALERT. It is the 2nd show of the Bachelor, Riding On Wings OF Love. Tonight, the Bachelor, will have 15 nutjobs to deal with, and he WILL marry one of them. That has been your CHICK ALERT>>>CHICK ALERT***

HOCKEY PICK – Light night in the bigs…but, the Canucks host Nashville tonight in one of 4 games. It is a later 7:30 start as the Nucks try to bounce back from a shootout loss to Calgary on Saturday. I wish Jordin Tootoo were in the lineup for the Preds…would make for a great battle with Ricky Rypien. Crosby fans can watch the Pens and Wild at 5 bells tonight.

     THE BIG LEBOWSKI LIST

– Hollywood loves their super-hero flicks, and so do we. Here is an update on the “Green Lantern” with Canadian and Ben Affleck wannabe Ryan Reynolds. His new love interest in the upcoming movie will be none other than Serena from Gossip Girl…Blake Lively. “Is that a green glowstick in your pants, or are you happy that it’s Blake Lively?”  Look for Matt Dillon to play Shazaam in a “Shazaam vs. Superman” movie that will be coming our way in the next few years. Let’s list the big ten movie superheroes of all time.

10. Michael Chiklis (Thor)

9. Vinnie Chase (Aquaman)

8. Adam West (Batman)

7. Edward Norton (Hulk)

6. Halle Berry (Catwoman)

5. Tobey Maguire (Spiderman)

4. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine)

3. Robert Downey Jr. (Ironman)

2. Christopher Reeve (Superman)

1. Christian Bale (Batman)

– That concludes Buzz Beater everyone. It will continue to be most riveting, and with all truths, and no sarcasms, and will return tomorrow, or the day after, but, probably tomorrow. Hmmm…do you smell salad suckers?!

…And the Award Goes To (Dec.update)

In Hockey Hits on January 2, 2010 by geespotting

Alright…three months into the NHL season…and here is the award tracker so far:

MVP – Ilya Bryzgalov, PHOENIX

– Alright, I may be biased a bit as the Coyotes are my team…and I usually never pick a tender for this award…but, at this point of the season, he is the most valuable player to his team. Look at the standings, and then look at his numbers. Pretty easy actually.

RUNNER UP: Joe Thornton, SAN JOSE

– Kind of hard to pick Big Joe as a runner up on a team stacked like the Sharks…but, he is looking like the Joe that first arrived on the West Coast a few years ago. Doesn’t hurt to have some pretty awesome linemates however.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Ryan Miller, BUFFALO & Henrik Sedin, VANCOUVER

TOP GOALIE – Ilya Bryzgalov, PHOENIX.

– I mentioned why he is the MVP right now, but, also the league’s top goalie right now after Ryan Miller had a few stumbles this month.

RUNNER UP: Ryan Miller, BUFFALO

– A few stumbles still warrant him the number two spot.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Martin Brodeur, NEW JERSEY & Evgeni Nabokov, SAN JOSE

TOP DEFENCEMAN – Duncan Keith, CHICAGO

– Another month and another month of improved play. The Penticton native doesn’t make any mistakes, and he is the ultimate power play QB.

RUNNER UP – Dan Boyle, SAN JOSE

– Like Keith, a blue-liner who will be counted on for Canada at the upcoming Winter Games in Vancouver.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Tomas Kaberle, TORONTO & Mike Green, WASHINGTON

TOP ROOKIE – Tyler Myers, BUFFALO

– Johnny T has been de-throned (for now anyway) as this former Kelowna Rocket is the best defenseman on the Sabres, and the best rookie so far. Some say he is way ahead of Chara when he was a rookie. If that holds true…look out!

RUNNER UP – John Tavares, NEW YORK ISLANDERS

– His play dropped a bit in December, but, still leading the Isles and all rookies in scoring.

HONORABLE MENTIONS – Matt Duchene, COLORADO & Niclas Bergfors, NEW JERSEY

MOST SPORTSMANLIKE – Martin St. Louis, TAMPA BAY

– He was a surprise player NOT picked for Team Canada, but, his numbers are high on the point side, and low on the PM side.

RUNNER UP – Brad Richards, DALLAS

– Another player that could have been on Team Canada. He is still in the top 10 in scoring, and has under 10 pm’s.

HONORABLE MENTIONS – Patrick Marleau, SAN JOSE & Zach Parise, NEW JERSEY

TOP DEFENSIVE FORWARD – Zach Parise, NEW JERSEY

– I don’t know if anyone will knock off the Devils’ star out of top spot. He plays all situations, leads the league in plus-minus, and leads the team in scoring.

RUNNER UP – Jonathon Toews, CHICAGO

– The Hawk captain is really rolling right now after his early season injury. Like Parise, a player counted on in many capacities…and excels in them too.

HONORABLE MENTIONS – Patrick Marleau, SAN JOSE & Taylor Pyatt, PHOENIX

TOP COACH  – Joe Sacco, COLORADO

– The Avs are STILL among the top teams in the West…and their coach is the main reason. He has done an incredible job in keeping this young team motivated.

RUNNER UP – Dave Tippett, PHOENIX.

– Like Sacco, Tippett is keeping the surprising ‘Yotes in the mix. He has changed the style of this team, and his disciplined approach has the Desert Dogs continuing to win in many close games.

HONORABLE MENTIONS – Lindy Ruff, BUFFALO & Terry Murray, LOS ANGELES

…so…if the NHL handed out the hardware today…that’s how she would look. More later!
